Dodge Durango SUV and Dakota Truck Recall |
|
| There has been an important
recall relating to the Dodge Durango SUV fuel valve
defect. |
| On February 1, 2005, The
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA) announced that DaimlerChrysler AG would
be recalling nearly 26,000 Dodge Durango SUVs from
the 2005 model year because of a faulty fuel tank
filler valve. The valve may not fully close after
refueling, which could lead to a fuel leak. In
the presence of an ignition source, fuel leakage
can pose a serious fire risk. |
| Injured drivers and
passengers, and the families of loved ones
who have died due to a fire in a Dodge Durango
SUV, may bring claims for negligence and a
defective product. |
| Damages sought have
included punitive damages for manufacturing
SUVs with alleged safety defects and include
general and compensatory damages for: |
- Wrongful death;
- Past and future physical pain and suffering,
mental anguish and physical impairment;
- Past and future medical, incidental and
hospital expenses; and
- Past and future loss of earnings and
earning capacity.
