Recall Tires: Associated Press Financial Wire , "Michelin Recalls Pilot Sport Tires"
|
Michelin North America Inc. said Thursday it is recalling about 6,500 tires in its Pilot Sport line in the United States and Canada, saying the tires don't meet the company's quality standards.
Most of the recalled tires were distributed in the United States, with fewer than 400 distributed in Canada. The company said it is taking similar actions in other countries as well.
The specific tires affected are the Michelin Pilot Sport 255/35ZR20 97Y extra load. The tires were fitted as original equipment on some Jaguar vehicles and were also sold in the replacement market.
Michelin said such defective tires have a blister on their sidewall, which can cause them to vibrate and rapidly lose air pressure. The problem could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles. No reports of related accidents or injuries have been reported in North America to date, Michelin said. |
