Ford Truck Fires: WSBTV.com, "Trucks Burst Into Flames, Even When Turned Off" |
Some of the most popular trucks on the road just burst into flame while they're shut off in the drive way. Ford Motor Company has a recall to handle the problem. But some customers complain about how Ford handles those whose trucks have already burned up.
A Kennesaw, Georgia couple blames their truck for starting the fire that killed their four year old daughter. The fire department couldn't find a cause. A year later, Ford issued a recall for the 2001 F-150 Super Crew truck parked in the families' garage. A switch in the cruise control system was at risk for fire, even with the truck parked and off.
An attorney hired by the family says Ford did not respond to an invitation to participate in an investigation. Ford issued a statement to us saying, “…"there is no evidence that this fire originated in the vehicle. Our contention is that Ford Motor Company knew there was a bad switch in that vehicle that could cause fires. Ford Motor Company knew that this vehicle had burned," said Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, attorney Mark Chalos. |
