Riders
dead in West Virginia ATV Wrecks So Far This Year" |
A
Fayette County man was killed in a wreck Sunday, marking what appears
to be the state's 21st ATV death in 2006, according to people who track
West Virginia's ATV death toll.
About 7 p.m. Sunday, Larry D. Bennett, 47, of Pax was driving a Yamaha Rhino, a utility 4x4 that has a passenger seat beside the driver, downhill along a wooded trail near Page, according to a Fayette County Sheriff's Department news release.
It appears the rear tire of the ATV slid over an embankment, police said. The vehicle overturned and it fell about 130 feet over the embankment.
Bennett and his passenger, Amber McDonald, 38, of Pax were thrown from the vehicle, police said. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for a leg injury, but deputies did not know her condition on Tuesday.
