A woman was killed and her husband and 5-month-old baby were injured Tuesday when they were thrown from their car in a rollover crash.
Chantia Elaine Smith and her 5-month-old child were completely thrown from the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero when it rolled. The woman's 23-year-old husband was partially thrown from the car during the rollover, San Bernardino County coroner's officials said.
The crash occurred when a driver heading east on Tawney Ridge entered the intersection into the path of the Mit-subishi, whose driver was heading north on Amargosa, deputies said. Smith's husband tried to avoid the crash by swerving to the right, but the vehicles collided anyway. The driver lost control of the Mitsubishi, causing it to rollover onto its left side.
